We are interested in the molecular mechanisms that control gene expression in the human brain. In specific, we study how transposable elements, a group of non-coding sequences, and their epigenetic repressors regulate gene expression in oligodendroglia cells in the context of aging and disease. We use human-derived tissue and cell models in combination with CRISPR-based gene and epigenome editing and a multi-omics sequencing approach.
